SexTingles and FOSI

FOSI

SexTingles supports ICRA, the International Content Rating Association.

How Does SexTingles Support FOSI (formally ICRA)?

We at SexTingles believe strongly in an uncensored internet. However we also believe that tools to help control access by children are essential. We are parents too and know how it is impossible to sit next to your children all the time in order to vet their web browsing. To help with this we have labelled all the content on the SexTingles website (see below).

We were an Associate Member (until FOSI decided to discontinue the scheme) to help further the aims of FOSI by taking part in the discussions on how to improve the scheme and providing some financial support. The more widely this scheme is adopted, the better for all users of the internet.

What Is FOSI?

FOSI stands for the Family Online Safety Institute. It used to be called ICRA which stands for Internet Content Rating Association. It is a non profit organisation set up to provide a means of protecting children using the internet from unsuitable material including chat rooms. FOSI promotes the ICRA labelling mechanism that allows websites to announce the type of content in their pages.

By this means the web can be open and uncensored (for adults) while children are protected. In addition, those adults who do not like to be exposed to violent, racist etc, pornographic or drug related websites can also use the system to filter out websites/webpages they do not wish to access inadvertently.

How Does The Labelling System Work?

The labelling system allows websites and web pages to indicate they have or do not have content that parents, teachers and other people with responsibility for the welfare of children will be concerned about. By installing extensions to common browsers it is possible to block the access to unsuitable sites. It is not necessary to know the websites in advance as it is the content labelling that decides the access. Blocking sites with unsuitable content is the useful 'negative' exclusion side.

There is also a positive side. By incorporating ICRA labelling on a site that has content suitable for children the browser extensions can give parents confidence to allow access to such labelled but otherwise unknown websites.

What Labels Have Been Given To SexTingles?

The SexTingles website does not contain extreme content, however most of the content is not suitable for children. Because of this we label our content as:
  • Exposed breasts
  • Bare buttocks
  • Visible genitals
  • Passionate kissing
  • Obscured or implied sexual acts
  • Visible sexual touching
  • Explicit sexual language
  • Erotica
  • No violence
  • Profanity or swearing
  • Mild expletives
  • No potentially harmful activities
  • User generated content may be, but is not known to be, present

How Can One Recognise A Site That Uses ICRA Labelling?

Some sites show a visible references to ICRA by using one of their icons/banners such as:

ICRA

Other sites may simply state they are ICRA labelled. In fact there is no requirement to display anything on a labelled site. To check if a site is labelled and with what categories of content go to the ICRA label checking page.

If you run a website and would like to add ICRA content labelling to it go the ICRA label generating page. There is no charge to label a site or to check a site's labels.
